80’s only the good parts

Today is way to hot do practice the art of ingenious blogging so I want go back to one of my recent favorite topics - the eighties. What I want to do is to show you why we shouldn’t despise the whole decade just because it looks lame from our point of view.

I have two examples straight from the eighties that in my opinion show this the best way possible. First one illustrates what is generally thought as typical 80’s cultural bit. Check out (if you even can stand it) this music video of I Ran by The Flock of Seagulls:

Yeah, that was hard to swallow. Did anyone made to the end? Sorry about that, this was a needed to create a strong contrast between this next clip from Miami Vice’s pilot episode with Phil Collin’s “In the air tonight”. Keep in mind that this scene is considered as one of the most powerful movie scenes of that decade:

See the difference? I sure hope so. To sum up: first video was a bad part of the eighties culture a common misconception that whole decade was like that. Second one is a powerful scene that still has value after all this years. The second one is why I care about the subject at all.

Hopefully I haven’t bored you to death and maybe some of you will get closer to the vibe of the eighties. If so, be sure to come back again as it is definitely not the last post about that decade.
